With the global warming and the continuous extension of human activities, the natural environment in Antarctica has become very fragile, extreme weather events have become more and more frequent, glaciers have been melting, resulting in rising sea levels, which has brought extinction to Antarctic circle and southern ocean creatures. In 1984, China’s first Antarctic scientific expedition arrived in Antarctica. Over the past 38 years, the expedition team has braved hardships and waves in successive voyages, and achieved a series of scientific research achievements that have amazed the world, demonstrating China’s scientific and technological strength and international status.
Due to the extremely sensitive ecological environment in the polar region, according to the Antarctic Environmental Protection Agreement, the domestic water for Antarctic investigation must be treated by biochemical treatment before it can be discharged into the ocean. Therefore, the requirements for cleaning products in Antarctica are extremely strict-they cannot contain phosphorus and other harmful ingredients, but also can be rapidly biodegradable at low temperatures. Because Amway’s environmental protection concept is consistent with that of China polar expedition, the environmental protection characteristics of Amway products meet the requirements of polar expedition. In August 2002, Amway (China) officially joined hands with China polar expedition. Up to now, a series of Amway products, such as "Amway Excellent Life", "Beauty Tooth Health", "Yami", "Siting" and "Bisu", have become "the products selected for China’s Antarctic expedition".
Wang Jiayi said that under the extreme climate in Antarctica, members who have been conducting scientific research at Zhongshan Station and Great Wall Station for a long time are prone to decreased resistance and aggravation of chronic diseases. Any health problems of expedition members can’t be ignored. Wang Jiayi said that some members of the Antarctic expedition team found cholecystitis, carotid artery obstruction and other diseases that were not serious on weekdays during physical examination, and the doctors accompanying the expedition team would ask the members for further examination and treatment immediately, so as to avoid health problems during months or even half a year’s inspection.
According to reports, in 2003, Amway began to provide Nutrilite nutritious food to China Polar Expedition Team, considering the urgent need for expedition members to keep healthy in extremely harsh natural environment. Since then, Amway’s clean products and nutritious food have been fully used in China Antarctic research station and the "Snow Dragon" research ship. With the deepening of cooperation between the two sides, in 2008, before the 25th Antarctic expedition set sail in China, the "Amway Excellent Living and Environmental Protection House" settled in Xuelong Boat; In 2014 and 2015, Zhongshan Station and Great Wall Station in Antarctica also had warm Amway "environmental protection huts". In July 2019, with the delivery of the first self-built polar icebreaker "Snow Dragon 2" in China, the "Amway Excellent Living and Environmental Protection House" also settled in the ship.
In order to let more people know about the polar regions and care for the earth, Amway invited polar experts to carry out popular science tours all over the country from the beginning of cooperation. Over the past 20 years, a total of 26 polar experts have given 203 speeches in 76 cities across the country, and more than 120,000 people have listened to the "Voice from the Polar Region" with their own ears.
