The tenth anniversary of the implementation of the Talents Program has trained more than 7,000 scientific research reserve troops.

Cctv newsToday (May 30th) is the seventh National Science and Technology Workers’ Day. Since 2013, China Association for Science and Technology and the Ministry of Education have jointly implemented the "Training Plan for Secondary School Students’ Scientific and Technological Innovation Reserve Talents", referred to as the "Talents Plan". Let the middle school students who have the spare capacity to learn enter the university and conduct academic research under the guidance of their tutors. Over the past 10 years, more than 7,000 middle school students with innovative potential have been trained all over the country. How has the talent program changed their lives? Let’s watch it together.

The boy who is doing the experiment of "Surface Plasmon Phenomenon of Silver Nanowires" is Qi Yihan, a senior in the School of Physics of Xi ‘an Jiaotong University. Although he is young after 00, his research topic is very cutting-edge.

Qi Yihan, a student of Physics College of Xi ‘an Jiaotong University:Now the main research direction belongs to nano-photonics. For example, I can build some logic gates through some nanowires and optical signals, and then output 0 and 1. After that, some efficiency and integration of photonic chips can be improved.

With a strong interest in physics, in 2017, Qi Yihan, then a senior one student, joined the "Talents Program" through layer-by-layer selection and became a student of Professor Gao Hong, Dean of the School of Physics of Xi ‘an Jiaotong University. The "Talents Program" uses the scientific research platform and academic resources of colleges and universities to train students, with special emphasis on practical ability. After more than a year’s exercise, Qi Yihan was successfully admitted to the School of Mechanical Engineering of Xi ‘an Jiaotong University, entered the "Qian Xuesen Physics Experimental Class", and published academic papers under the guidance of teachers. Soon, he will go to Tokyo University in Japan for further study.

Qi Yihan, a student of Physics College of Xi ‘an Jiaotong University:"Talents Program" makes me feel that physics is a place where you need to overcome some difficulties, solve some physical problems and make some physical guesses, which makes me firmly learn physics.

Zhou Chengkai is a freshman in this year’s Talents Program. He is now studying in Chengdu No.7 High-tech Campus. After joining the Talents Program, Zhou Chengkai was taught by Professor Xiang Gang from the School of Physics of Sichuan University. During one year, he not only learned the basic knowledge about semiconductors, but also participated in various experiments, which benefited a lot.

Zhou Chengkai, a senior one student in Chengdu No.7 Middle School:His rigorous academic spirit is of great help to semiconductor learning and our encouragement, in fact, to our future professional choice, including the current study.

Zhao Yize is a senior three student in the Middle School Attached to Beijing Institute of Technology. Two years ago, he joined the "Talents Program" and studied chemistry with Na Na, a professor of chemistry at Beijing Normal University. He is experimenting with the synthesized photoelectrocatalytic materials. In the experiment, he will use a xenon lamp to simulate sunlight, determine the appropriate position through densitometer measurement, and then realize the performance test of photoelectrocatalytic reaction through an electrochemical workstation.

Zhao Yize, a middle school student attached to Beijing Institute of Technology:It has broadened my horizons. It’s not like you remember and understand knowledge and build a knowledge network in junior high school, but you use your known experimental ideas in the unknown and then explore in the dark.

Professor Na Na of Beijing Normal University:Because we are looking for scientific research, he needs a lot of interest, an analogy and a brainwave feeling. I think it needs various cultivation, running-in and stimulation, so that he can take the initiative to think before jumping out.

Professor Xiang Gang from Sichuan University of Science and Technology:Such a combination of middle school education and university education can stimulate students’ interest in scientific research and cultivate a large number of outstanding middle school students who advocate science and have innovative potential, which is the purpose of the "Talents Program".
