The tetravalent flu vaccine is coming! Experts remind these people to give priority to vaccination.

On the afternoon of August 21st, Guangdong Preventive Medicine Association held a "Seminar on Influenza Prevention and Control Countermeasures under the New Situation". The author learned from the meeting that this year’s tetravalent influenza vaccine was launched in August in China, and the first batch of 500,000 tetravalent influenza vaccines produced by Hualan Bio will be supplied to eight provinces, and Guangdong is among the first supply provinces. It is expected that Guangdong people will be able to get the tetravalent influenza vaccine in September.

Hundreds of millions of people are infected with influenza every year in China.

Dr. Zheng Jiandong from China CDC said that influenza is a highly contagious and fast-spreading respiratory infectious disease, which is easily confused with the common cold and has long been considered as a disease without specific preventive measures. Every year in China, it is as high as 65 million — 190 million people are infected with the flu.

Every year, the World Health Organization will analyze and predict the strains that may be prevalent in that year according to the influenza epidemic situation monitored around the world, and recommend countries to use these strains to make vaccines.

On March 21 this year, the World Health Organization officially released the 2019— The promotion components of seasonal influenza vaccine in the northern hemisphere in 2020 mainly include the representative strains of influenza A (H1N1 subtype) and influenza A (H3N2 subtype), and the representative strains of influenza B (Victoria strain and Yamagata strain). Vaccine manufacturers determine the composition of influenza vaccine accordingly.

The author understands that in Guangdong, influenza has two epidemic peaks in winter, spring and summer. In different years, the peak time is different, and there are advances or delays. For example, November 2018 — In January 2019, the flu activity was high, while this year was 3-mdash; In July, the flu was more active. In the winter epidemic season last year, Guangdong influenza virus was mainly H1N1, which was consistent with the national epidemic situation.

Vaccine companies increase production plans this year.

Vaccination is the most economical and effective public health intervention measure to prevent and control infectious diseases. However, in China, the vaccination rate of influenza vaccine is only about 2%. According to statistics, October 2018 — In May 2019, a total of 958,000 doses of influenza vaccine were inoculated in Guangdong province.

In 2018, due to the fact that many vaccine companies stopped supplying influenza vaccines, the vaccine was "out of stock" when the flu season arrived last year. So, what’s the situation this year?

At this seminar, the author learned that two batches of tetravalent influenza vaccine produced by Hualan Bio were issued in August, and the first batch of 500,000 copies will be supplied to eight provinces in China, among which Guangdong residents are expected to be vaccinated in September.

Pan Ruowen, the general manager of the company, said that as a tetravalent influenza vaccine independently produced in China, it was first listed in China last October, but there has been a shortage of supply last year, so many local influenza vaccines are "hard to find". This year, the company has increased its production plan, doubling its production capacity on the basis of last year, and is expected to produce 11 million tetravalent influenza vaccines.

Pan Ruowen said that compared with the tetravalent influenza vaccine produced last year, the composition of this year’s vaccine has changed due to the changes of epidemic virus strains recommended by the World Health Organization, among which the components of A H1N1 and A H3N2 have all changed.

The effective protection period of general influenza vaccine is 6-mdash; Eight months ago, many people were vaccinated against influenza before May this year. Do these people still need to be vaccinated in September? Pan Ruowen said that because the virus strains prevalent this year have changed, even people who were vaccinated in the first half of this year are advised to get the flu vaccine for the new season as soon as possible.

Medical personnel should give priority to influenza vaccination.

Sun Limei, director of the Institute of Immunization Planning of Guangdong Provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention, suggested that influenza vaccine should be given before the arrival of influenza epidemic season every year, and it is suggested that the priority population should be 6-mdash; 23-month-old infants and young children, such people have a high risk of severe illness after suffering from influenza, and the burden of influenza hospitalization is heavy.

Secondly, 2— 5-year-old children and people aged 60 and above are also key vaccination groups, and this group of people has the highest risk of death after suffering from influenza. In addition, patients with specific chronic diseases, such as cardiovascular diseases and chronic respiratory diseases; Medical personnel; Family members and caregivers of infants under 6 months old; Pregnant women or women who are going to get pregnant during the flu season should give priority to influenza vaccination.

In particular, she called on medical staff to give priority to influenza vaccination, because their daily diagnosis and treatment activities lead to a higher risk of influenza virus infection than ordinary people.

According to a statistic, in each epidemic season, the incidence of influenza among medical staff who have not been vaccinated with influenza is as high as 18.7%, which is 3.4 times that of healthy adults. In addition, medical staff infected with influenza virus can increase the risk of nosocomial infection.

Many foreign studies show that among the medical staff infected with influenza virus, 35% are asymptomatic, and more than 75% of medical staff continue to work after flu-like symptoms appear. (Nanfang Daily reporter Li Xiuting correspondent Yin Dongmei Zhuang Haitang)
